Creating a Household
A "Household" is the central entity in the application, representing a client or a family unit. All financial data, scenarios, and plans are tied to a household. This guide explains how to create a new household and get started with adding their financial details.
Creating a New Household
The process begins on the "Households" page, where you can see a list of existing households.
-
Open the Create Household Modal: Click on the "Create New Household" button to open the creation dialog.
-
Enter Household Details:
- Household Name: This is a required field. It should be a unique and easily identifiable name for the client or family (e.g., "Smith Family", "John & Jane Doe").
- Member 1 Name: The name of the primary member of the household.
- Member 2 Name: The name of the partner or second member, if applicable. This can be left blank for single-member households.
-
Create the Household: Click the "Create Household" button. The system will create the new household and automatically redirect you to the Household Overview page.
The Household Overview Page
This page is the central dashboard for a specific household. From here, you can manage all aspects of their financial life. The page is divided into several key sections, allowing you to add and view:
- Household Information: General details about the household, such as address and marital status.
- Individual Details: Specific information for each member, like occupation and contact details.
- Relationships: Family members and professional contacts.
- Financial Data: This is where you will add the core financial information using the modals for Income, Expenses, Assets, and Liabilities.
Next Steps: Adding Financial Details
Once the household is created, the next step is to populate it with the client's financial data. The following documents provide detailed guides on how to use each of the data entry modals:
